Oh Man…I love HOUSE!

It is unusual for a medical professional to watch and enjoy television programs filmed in a hospital setting because usually all we do is sit there and count how many medical mistakes are made.

Seriously there is a ton of mistakes in HOUSE…BUT “House” has some redeeming qualities which always keep me coming back for more.

House is so entertaining I overlook the mistakes and that dear friends-- is a BIGGIE. What do I like the most? What keeps me watching? What keeps all of us watching?

For me, I think the relationship dynamics are insightful but I am drawn into a private game I play during each episode….I call it “Find the Metaphor” and they never fail to surprise me.

To this date this is my favorite HOUSE “Metaphor” and I thought I’d share it:

Once, after discovering that a young man had attempted self-circumcision with a utility knife, House snapped, "Stop talking. I'm going to get a plastic surgeon. To get the Twinkie back in the wrapper."

I giggle every time I think about it…not just because it is shocking but I remember vividly the look which was one Houses’ face right before he said it. It was a mixture of shock and disgust—an oddity as House is rarely openly shocked or disgusted.

If you love Houses’ metaphors as much as I do you can find more at this URL:

I challenge you to find some more House metaphors in the upcoming episodes!
